Suspect Arrested in Death of Telemundo Reporter Covering Super Bowl 2025

Adan Manzano, a 27-year-old sports reporter for Telemundo Kansas City, was found dead in his hotel room in Kenner, Louisiana, where he was covering the Super Bowl. Police have arrested Danette Colbert in connection with his death.

Colbert, a resident of Slidell, Louisiana, was apprehended on February 6 in New Orleans after allegedly using Manzano’s credit card. Security footage showed Colbert with Manzano and then leaving his hotel room alone the morning of his death. Colbert faces property crime charges, but these could be upgraded depending on the coroner’s findings. Police found Manzano’s credit card and cell phone at Colbert’s residence, along with illegal substances and a stolen weapon. Kenner Police Chief Keith Conley characterized Colbert as a “career criminal” known to New Orleans police for fraud schemes and said that she has been accused of drugging alleged victims in the past.

Manzano’s employer, KGKC Telemundo Kansas City, is cooperating with the investigation. Steve Downing, the station’s general manager, described Manzano as a “true professional and a rising star” who “exemplified excellence in his work”. Manzano is survived by his 2-year-old daughter, Eleanor. His wife passed away in a car accident nine months prior.
